Ralph was born in Savannah, the son of Margaret Erber Smith and Cutis L. Woods. He graduated from Savannah High School, Class of 1965, and Florida Technical College, Jacksonville, FL.

In 1974, Ralph married the former Julia (Judi) Foran also of Savannah. After nearly 44 years in the computer science field, he retired from Derst Baking Company. He was a communicant of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. He was previously a member of Savannah Jaycees, the Knights of Columbus, Council 631, and the St. Patrick's Day Parade Committee. In addition to his wife, Ralph is survived by several nieces and nephews.

A private service will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that you consider a donation in Ralph's Memory to Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 1707 Bull Street, Savannah GA 31401 or the Social Apostolate, 502 E. Liberty St., Savannah, GA 31401.

May the road rise up to meet you. May the wind be always at your back. May the sun shine warm upon your face; the rains fall soft upon your fields. And until we meet again, may God hold you in the palm of His hand.
